Ductile Iron - Pouring

The following SOP covers the standard procedure for pouring ductile iron in the MTU Foundry.

Preparations

First,

Safety

Always wear appropriate PPE for foundry operations. This includes:

• Leather Steel Toed Boots
• Approved safety glasses
• Green jacket
• Long hair tied up

When pouring, additional PPE must be worn, including:

• Aluminized Jacket
• Hard Hat with Shaded Face Shield
• Aluminized Spats or Leggings
• Leather or Aluminized Gloves
