Making the Polymer

  1. Put milk in an appropriately sized pot.
  2. Heat over medium-high heat until milk begins to steam.
  3. Take pot off the heat.
  4. add vinegar or lemon juice while gently stirring the milk.
  5. Once the mixture starts to curd, stir for an additional minute.
  6. Pour the curds into a strainer.
    • Let sit for five minutes.
  7. Compact the curds into a clump.
  8. Place in a large bowl.
  9. Fill the bowl with vinegar until the clump is submerged.
  10. Let sit for one hour.
    • This is to make the final surface smoother.
  11. Pour the clump back into the strainer.
    • Let sit for an additional five minutes.
  12. Use paper towel to squish and absorb as much liquid out of the clump as possible.
  13. Compact into a mold.
  14. Let sit in the mold until hard and dry.

Standard Recipe

  • 1 cup of milk
  • 4 teaspoons of vinegar or lemon juice
  • This is enough to fill four ice cube pockets
  • This takes about a week to dry after molded.
